Make $2000 in Monthly Savings Like Quadrent

Explore how Quadrent makes $24,000 in yearly car park savings.

save money on car park facilities like QuadrentQuadrent, a New Zealand-based innovator in asset finance, encountered a major operational hurdle when its workforce doubled in 2024. The organisation’s compact under-building car park, which had previously served both staff and visiting professionals adequately, transformed into a daily source of frustration due to overcapacity. Seeking a practical alternative without bearing the substantial expenses of acquiring additional spaces, Quadrent implemented Deski—a flexible workspace booking platform.

Quick Overview

The Challenge

As Quadrent’s team grew rapidly over the course of a year, their existing parking infrastructure fell short of addressing the company’s operational capacity needs.

The Implementation

Deski was customised to optimise space utilisation rates while strengthening transparency and access. The deployment encompassed assigning specific spaces to each department, creating sequential reservation windows, and adopting straightforward booking rules that enabled fair and organised resource allocation.

The Results

Quadrent’s 27 team members now efficiently share 12 available spaces each day. Rather than committing funds to constructing new parking infrastructure or renting additional spaces, the organisation adopted a smart booking approach and achieved significant yearly savings.

About Quadrent

The Company

Quadrent is an innovator in equipment finance, having transformed industry standards since 2002. With a presence across New Zealand and Australia, Quadrent manages approximately $30 billion in lease portfolios while championing sustainable resource management practices that reduce environmental waste by up to 90%. Committed to the philosophy of “different, simpler, and better,” Quadrent works toward meaningful advancement in finance and technology through transparency, operational effectiveness, and environmental responsibility.

Environmental and Social Responsibility

The company’s overarching mission emphasises enabling sustainable growth through technological innovation. As a certified B Corp, Quadrent integrates ethical responsibility and environmental stewardship into its fundamental business structure. This philosophy nurtures an organisational culture oriented toward stakeholder prosperity, ecological preservation, and lasting positive results.

The Challenge: Scaling Operations and Parking Constraints

Quadrent’s rapid growth created significant parking difficulties. Team members faced challenges securing available spots, often resulting in vehicles blocking one another, resulting in congestion and workplace tension. The absence of organised car park management strategy disrupted workflow efficiency and posed risks to employee morale and satisfaction.

As the team started to grow rapidly, we began to find out that there weren’t enough car parks. This very small under-building car park space would end up being stacked as people would try to park behind others. In this small space, it was a nightmare. Two people did that and the entire area got almost gridlocked. If those people went away or were in meetings and others needed to get to their cars, it became the worst-case scenario.

The Solution: Deski’s Intelligent Booking Platform

Rather than investing in expensive infrastructure expansion, Quadrent opted for a software-based approach to optimise their existing car park capacity. Following evaluation of competing solutions, the organisation chose Deski for its straightforward functionality and sophisticated support for multi-departmental sharing arrangements.

Matt Archer described the selection criteria:

The car parks were going to cost up to $500 per month in a poor location and easily up to $1000 in a nice one. That starts to bring some good dollars to the table to invest in a parking solution. So I jumped on Capterra and started to look for an app. When I downloaded Deski, I instantly saw you are trying to simplify things. There were fewer distractions and a kinder user interface compared to the other app we tested. And while exploring, I saw you were boasting you could cater for a many-to-one and a many-to-many relationship so I decided to give Deski a try.

Deski’s Configuration and Deployment

The platform was configured to support Quadrent’s organisational framework and facilitate growth as the company scales:

  • User Groups: Staff members were organised into departmental groups for simplified platform operation.
  • Department-Based Space Allocation: Specific parking spaces were distributed to individual departments.
  • Tiered Booking Windows:
    • Friday: Department staff access their group’s designated allocation.
    • Saturday: If department spaces are fully reserved, team members can access availability in other departmental assignments.
    • Sunday: Any remaining unreserved spots are opened to all employees across the organisation.
  • Waitlist: Employees can join the waitlist to receive alerts when parking becomes available throughout the week.

Outcomes: Financial Gains and Culture Development

The customised approach produced significant benefits across financial and human dimensions:

Major Annual Cost Savings

By maximising the productivity of current facilities, Quadrent avoided the investment required for additional parking, generating annual cost reductions of $24,000.

Elimination of Congestion Problems

The system framework prevented blocking incidents, removing traffic gridlock and significantly decreasing workplace disturbance and employee dissatisfaction.

Inclusive Accessibility and Fairness

Regardless of rank or employment tenure, every team member obtained reliable access to reserve parking when required.

Enhanced Workplace Culture

The shared-use framework encouraged workplace thoughtfulness, with staff proactively releasing unneeded reservations for colleagues, resulting in increased system performance and overall efficiency.

Clear and Organised Policies

The guidelines established straightforward standards: reserve in advance to access parking, or arrange supplementary commuting options.

Workplace Transformation and Team Experience

Matt Archer reflected on the significant shift in organisational atmosphere:

Then we started using Deski and I knew it was improving our workplace from day one. There was a lot of gratitude from our staff, especially from some of the new hires who have really long commutes. With Deski, we can offer them a car park when they come to the office. Our car park management is now in line with Quadrent’s culture, which is making the best use of the resources for everyone’s benefit.
